Area artist Liz Whisler of rural LeClaire has a collection of her paintings on display at First Central Gallery in DeWitt. One of her favorite paintings is of farmers operating an old steam engine. Whisler also made the pine frame and used a wire brush to create grooves and give it a more primitive look. Her exhibit can be seen through Friday, Nov. 28. Photo by Kate Howes

Central receives liability assessment
Central Community School Board members were appreciative of a risk control assessment conducted at the school Oct. 14 as they reviewed the results from the assessment at last week's board meeting.
