Calamus looking forward to annual Fun Days July 12-14

By Natalie Regan
Correspondent

At a short meeting Monday, July 1, the Calamus City Council put in a reminder of the upcoming July 12-14 Calamus Fun Days.

Jeff Wulf of Wulf's Disposal attended the meeting, noting his contract will be expiring this year. He is asking for a 25- cent raise per household.  The council asked about the new containers he will use that will be arriving soon.  The council suggested waiting until the containers arrive before the raise goes into effect.

A public hearing for the ITC franchise was held and the ordinance was approved with second and third readings waived.

The sheriff's monthly report showed 59.30 hours of patrol  in Calamus May 26 -June 25, with one citation, three incidents and seven calls.

The council agreed to leave the park restrooms open during the day unless any vandalism occurs. The city hopes patrons will appreciate having the restrooms available during the summer months and be respectful.

Charles and Karen Porth asked for a permit and approval for an addition to their RV Park, which would have 28 spots and would be open for the summer months only. The Porths would be responsible for any water and sewer lines.

A building permit was granted to Ben and Dana Frambach for a shed.  The council issued a reminder permits must be obtained before any work is done and buildings must be put on a permanent cement slab or permits will not be approved.

Another topic for discussion was water service to businesses; it will be addressed at the Aug. 5 meeting.
