Customers are showing they care by participating in a fundraiser Barnes Foodland in DeWitt is holding to support the DeWitt Area Veteran’s Memorial project. As they come through the checkout line, patrons are asked to donate $1 to help bring the project to completion. Barnes will match up to $1,000 to the project between now and Aug. 26. Those who donate have their names hung on the store’s front windows, which quickly are running out of room. Tuesday, Aug. 26, Barnes will be running the brat stand and will serve chicken breasts and hamburgers. “Our whole goal was to raise awareness,” says Mike Barnes. “This is definitely exceeding all of our expectations.” Photo by Kate Howes
