Robert M. Wainwright
Robert M. Wainwright, 84, of DeWitt, died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Sept. 24, at the DeWitt United Methodist Church. Pastor Wayne Wiersema will officiate.

Burial will follow the funeral luncheon at Zuma Cemetery in Port Byron, Ill.

Visitation is 2-6 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Robert Mann Wainwright was born July 2, 1928, in Geneseo, Ill., to Laverne and Georgia Mann Wainwright. Bob served in the Army during the Korean War as a radio technician and was honorably discharged as a sergeant.

In 1953, he married Dorothy Carlson at Augusta Lutheran Church at Andover, Ill. She died Feb. 21, 1973. The couple farmed near Hillsdale, Ill., until 1966. Bob worked at GE in Morrison, Il., nine years.

He married Doris Hendershott, and she also preceded him in death.

Bob worked as a machinist for various companies and was well known in Clinton County for his painting trade.

He attended the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton, and was a former member of the Fulton Saddle Club, Solo Steppers and various dance clubs. Bob loved his family and enjoyed bicycling, helping on his son's farm, fishing, boating and camping, family trips to Wisconsin Dells and dancing.

Surviving are sons, Ed (Joanne) Wainwright of Morrison, Bryon (Jeana) Wainwright of Fulton, and Scott (Theresa) Wainwright of DeWitt; four grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Glenn (Betty) of Hillsdale; sisters, Arlie Klebe of Zion, Ill., and Sylvia Simms of Hernando, Fla.

A brother also preceded him in death. Memorials are suggested to Mercy Hospice of Clinton.
