Rose Anna Walker
Rose Anna Walker, 63, of Welton died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2012, at her home.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Carson Celebration of Life Center, Maquoketa.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Oakview Cemetery, rural Welton.

Rose Anna Burkey was born April 1, 1949, in Maquoketa to Marion Perry and Lois Marie Clark Burkey. She was a 1967 graduate of Maquoketa High School.

She married Russell Leon Walker Aug. 24, 1967, in Maquoketa.

Rose Anna had worked as an in-home babysitter for a few years. She then worked for the Welton Post Office for several years serving as postmaster relief or officer-in-charge. 

Rose Anna was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America and the Maquoketa VFW Post 3633 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing crafts and spending time with her grandchildren. She also liked playing scrabble and boggle.

Surviving are her husband; children, Ryan "Roscoe" (Cherie Gruhn) Walker of Maquoketa, Rodney (Sandy) Walker of Welton, Reid Walker of Welton and Renee Walker of Maquoketa; four grandchildren; brothers, Richard "Dick" Burkey of Maquoketa, and Randy Burkey of Maquoketa; and her father-in-law, William Walker of Welton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, and her mother-in-law.

A memorial fund has been established.
