Lenral O. Welch
Lenral O. Welch, 85, of Delmar died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Jackson County Regional Health Center, Maquoketa.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1, 2012, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. The Rev. Anthony Dodgers will officiate.

Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, rural Bryant. Pallbearers will be Mathew McGill, Ken DeMoss, Todd Randolph, Rodney Gluesing, Paul Lorenzen and Tom Thiessen.

Visitation was 3-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Lenral Ory Welch was born June 29, 1927, in Clinton to Orvilla and Okel Thiessen Welch. He grew up in the Charlotte area and attended the Charlotte School.

Lenral married Mardelle Martensen Jan. 24, 1946, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Charlotte. She died Jan. 30, 1989. He married Janet Fallesen in Tama July 30, 1998. She died Oct. 29, 2006.

Lenral worked for Elmwood Dairy and later as a barber. He opened a barber shop in Goose Lake in the 50s and returned to farming. He also was employed by Galesburg Order Buyers and later the Clinton County maintenance department as a road grader operator until retirement in 1992.

He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlotte. Lenral enjoyed watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. He also enjoyed camping, softball and attending family school and sporting events.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Sharon) of Parkersburg, W.Va.,; a daughter, Sandra Gluesing of Delmar; a foster daughter, Teena Hunter of Palm Bay, Fla.; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

Lenral also was preceded in death by a half-brother.

Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
