Ann Feldpausch-Symens
Ann Feldpausch-Symens, 41, of Leuven, Belgium, formerly of DeWitt, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 16, 2013, at St. Peter's Hospital in Leuven, following a short illness.

The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, 5-7 p.m., Friday, March 1, with a vigil service at 7 p.m.

A funeral liturgy will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, in the church.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Ann Maria Feldpausch was born April 18, 1971, to Richard and Mary Badtram Feldpausch in Clinton. Ann graduated from Central Community High School, DeWitt, in 1989. She was an active member of 4-H and FFA while growing up on the family farm north of DeWitt.

In 1993, she graduated from Iowa State University with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural education. Ann taught ag at Andrew High School. She received a second degree from Clarke University, a bachelor of arts in computer information systems.

Ann moved to Peoria, Ill., in 2000 and worked for Caterpillar Logistics. She earned her master of science degree in computer information systems from the University of Phoenix in 2003.

Ann married Koen Symens of Leuven April 27, 2005, in Peoria. She moved to Leuven and continued to work for Caterpillar Logistics.

Ann was a loving wife, daughter, sister and aunt. She loved time spent with her family. Ann and Koen were avid international travelers, and especially enjoyed Cape Town, South Africa.

Ann had a beautiful, contagious smile. She was very courageous and adventurous, and was full-hearted. Ann also enjoyed reading, following sporting events espe-cially Iowa State, her pets and riding motorcycles.

She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her loving husband of nearly eight years, Koen; her parents, Richard and Mary Feldpausch of DeWitt; siblings, Brian (Jen) Feldpausch of Beaman, Karen (Dominic) Hogan of Monticello and Teresa (Brent) Perry of Eldora; her grandma, Alta Badtram of Pleasant Valley; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Stef and Sylvia Symens, a sister-in-law, Ann (Rudi) VanOpdorp and brother-in-law Dirk (Valerie) Symens, all of Antwerp, Belgium; 13 nieces and nephews.

Preceding Ann in death were her grandparents, Raphael and Helen Feldpausch. Her grandfather, Harry Badtram, passed away early Friday morning, Feb. 22, 2013.

Ann will be greatly missed by all of those she influenced in her life.
