Erwin C. Witt
Erwin C. Witt, 84, formerly of Low Moor, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Petersen Commons Assisted Living, Davenport.

A private family service will be held.   Private interment and military rites will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.

Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, is in charge of the arrangements.

Erwin Carl Witt was born March 5, 1929, in Clinton to Carl and Selma Behning Witt.  He served in the Navy during the Korean Era.  

He married Jane Johannsen, Aug. 11, 1956, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  The couple farmed in the Low Moor and Goose Lake areas. Jane died April 13, 1993.

Erwin also was employed at the former Cargill seed plant, Low Moor, for a number of years. For the past 20 years, Erwin had traveled to and resided in Yuma, Ariz.

He was a member of the Elvira Zion Lutheran Church and the Low Moor Lions Club.  Erwin enjoyed fishing, operating a saw-sharpening business and ham radio.

Surviving are his children, Tom (Gail) Witt of Goose Lake and Joy (Mike) Portz of Miles; four grandchildren; a great-grandson; and a sister, Donna Witt of Maquoketa.   

A sister and two brothers also preceded him in death.
