Karl E. Vohringer Jr.
Karl E. Vohringer Jr., 57, of DeWitt died Monday, March 4, 2013, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

A funeral service was held Friday, March 8, at Carson Celebration of Life Center in Maquoketa.

Burial was in the Buckhorn Cemetery, rural Maquoketa.

Karl Ernest Vohringer Jr. was born July 24, 1955, in Maquoketa to Karl Sr. and Verna Howell Vohringer. He attended school in Baldwin and Maquoketa.

He married Cindy Wiese in Clinton. They divorced, and he later married Carla Clark in Clinton.

Karl first worked for A to Z Salvage Yard in Clinton for several years, was a self-employed mechanic and for the past nine years had worked for Nugent Auto Sales, Maquoketa.

Karl loved to work on junk cars. He was a collector of bells and had raced stock cars.

Surviving are a daughter, Desiree (Kal) Vergauwen of Marshalltown; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brothers, Dennis (Jo) Vohringer of Delmar, Tom (Marianne) Sandberg of Manchester, David (Rhea) Sandberg of Missouri and Kris (Lisa) Vohringer of Maquoketa; sisters, Sharon (Larry) Boedeker of Calamus, Carla (Frank) Roberts of Buckhorn, Cindy (Ed) Clark of Lost Nation, Kathie (Eric) Hofmann of Aledo, Ill., and Kandi (Mark) Marshall of Maquoketa; and his step-mother, Marlene Vohringer of Maquoketa.

He was preceded in death by his father, a daughter, two sons, a brother and a sister.

A memorial fund has been established.
