Bernadine Lund
Bernadine D. Lund, age 94, of Wheatland passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center in DeWitt.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 21, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Wheatland at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Jon Cofield officiating. Burial will follow at the Dixon Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 20, 4-6 p.m., at Chapman Funeral Home in Wheatland.

Bernadine was born Oct. 10, 1918, to William and Louise Mayerhofer Knoche in Wheatland. She married Lester Lund Jan. 7, 1936, in Wheatland. He died in 1982. 


Bernadine and her husband farmed in the Calamus and Dixon area. She owned and operated Lund Grocery Store in Dixon with her husband, worked at Parker Company and also The Box Factory in Davenport. Bernadine moved to Wheatland in 2002.


She is survived by two daughters, Virjean (Ken) VanHulzen of Oskaloosa and Verlee (Rollie) Reiling of Wheatland; a brother, Owen Knoche of Knox City, Mo.; a sister-in-law, Ann Lund of Whitman, Mass.; grandchildren, Kendra (Mike) Slycord, Kraig (Jana) VanHulzen, Kurt (The-resa) VanHulzen, Kara (Scott) Touro, Ross (Pam) Reiling, Robin (Autumn) Reil-ing, and Renae (Rich) Edler; great-grandchildren Kayla (Brock) Martin, Kristell Slycord, Kamron, Kourtney, Andrew, Sarah and Joshua VanHulzen, Nathan, Mitchell and Makenna Touro, April, Rochelle, Ariel, Kirstie and Kyle Reiling, Amber (Adam) Moore, Jessica and Zach Edler; and a great-great-grandchild, Jace Reiling. 


Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.
