Gerald D. 'Jerry' Horner
Gerald D. "Jerry" Horner, 91, of McCausland died Monday, April 1, 2013, at his home.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 5, at Schultz Funeral Home in DeWitt. Entombment and military rites will be held at Davenport Memorial Park.

Visitation will be at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, 4-7 p.m. Thursday, April 4.

Gerald Delbert Horner was born Oct. 21, 1921, in McCausland to George Leon and Laura Rasche Horner. Following graduation from high school, Jerry served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 until 1946.

Following service, Jerry attended barber college and practiced barbering, first in Clinton with his dad and then in McCausland for many years.

Jerry was a member of the American Legion and VFW. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper. Jerry was the oldest resident of McCausland and was considered the town historian.

Surviving are numerous cousins.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials are suggested to the McCausland Fire Department.
