Marcella T. Schaefer
Marcella T. Schaefer, 83, of Muscatine, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at Davenport Good Samaritan Nursing Center.

A funeral service will be held Friday, April 12, at 1 p.m. at the St. Andrew Catholic Church, Blue Grass.

Burial will be in the Blue Grass Cemetery. Casket bearers will be Ryan, Richard and Rhett Schaefer, Chris Johnson, Bob Loussaert and Mike Groenwoldt.

Visitation is 4-7 p.m., Thursday, April 11, at Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Additional visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church.

Marcella was born Nov. 23, 1929, to Max and Louise Andresen Kaczinski in Clinton County. She married Elmer C. Schaefer Jan. 2, 1954, in Grand Mound. He died Oct. 20, 1999.

  She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Muscatine County Farm Bureau Women and a 60-year member of a monthly card club. She enjoyed playing cards, working in her garden, bird watching and doing counted cross-stitch.  She was an avid Hawkeye fan and enjoyed sports.  She loved attending her grandsons' activities.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Schaefer of Davenport; a son, Randy (Kathy) Schaefer of Blue Grass; three grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Betty Loussaert of Long Grove, Beverly (Ed) Peterman of DeWitt, Virgen Thiel of Medford, Wis., Pat (Jack) Cahill of Delmar, Sandra McLeland of West Des Moines and Judy Tschudi of Harrisonburg, Va.; and brothers, Paul (Arlene) Kaczinski of North Liberty and Ken (Lil) Kaczinski of Grand Mound.  

She also was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, Blue Grass.
