Julius L. "J.L." Derynck
Julius L. "J.L." Derynck, 88, of Lost Nation died Monday, April 29, 2013, at Crestridge Nursing Home, Maquoketa.

Funeral Services were held Friday, May 3, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Lost Nation,

Visitation was Thursday, May 2, at Lahey Funeral Home in Lost Nation, where a vigil service also was held.

Burial was in Lost Nation Cemetery.

Julius "J.L." Derynck was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Plainfield to Omer and Nooma Clark Derynck. He was united in marriage to Fern Creger Oct. 20, 1945, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation.

Julius farmed all his life in the Lost Nation area. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Lost Nation and the National Farmers Organization.

He loved to dance, play cards and work on machinery. He served in the United States Army.

Julius is survived by his four children: Stephen (Marsha) Derynck of Pittsboro, N.C., Neil (Shelley) Derynck of Betten-dorf, Kay (Edward) Pratt of Lost Nation and Nancy (Rick) Jaminet of Lynchburg, Va.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sons, one in infancy and John in 1965; twin brothers and one sister.
