Margaret E. "Marge" Donnelly
Margaret E. "Marge" Donnelly, 84, of Clinton, formerly of DeWitt, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.

The family will receive relatives and friends 2-6 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, with a vigil service at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue from 10:45 until 11:45 a.m. Monday, May 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt. The liturgy of Christian burial will be held at noon, Monday, in the church.  The Rev. Father Paul Connolly will officiate with interment in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Patrick McAvan, Tony McAvan, Nathan McAvan, Eric Clark, Mike Clark, Alec Clark, Kevin Donnelly, Brian Donnelly, Colin Donnelly and Tom Fisher.

Margaret Schoofs was born May 4, 1929, in Pocahontas to Joseph and Sophia Homan Schoofs.

She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School in Pocahontas, and was a graduate of the American Institute of Business in Des Moines.

She married John C. "Cal" Donnelly Oct. 4, 1949, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas. They resided in Sherburn, Minn., until moving to DeWitt, in 1967. Cal died Oct. 11, 2001.  

In addition to being a homemaker, Marge worked as a secretary at various local businesses. She had resided in Clinton for the past four years.

Marge was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt, and the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was an active member of Mercy Hospital Auxiliary in Clinton. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great joy in her life.  She enjoyed playing cards as well as watching and attending sporting events, especially those of her family.

Surviving are her children, Jackie (Richard) Clark of Bettendorf, Peggy McAvan of DeWitt, Dr. Robert (Lynn) Donnelly of Clinton and Tracy (Mark) Fisher of Bettendorf; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Grace Michael of Grayslake, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

She also was preceded in death by a son-in-law, three sisters and two brothers.
