Joseph P. McCloy
Joseph P. McCloy, 80, of Delmar, died Friday, June 7, 2013, at Jackson County Regional Health Center in Maquoketa.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Delmar.

Burial will be at St. Patrick Cemetery in Delmar with military honors.

Visitation was 2-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 11, at the church, where a Rosary was recited at 5:30 p.m.

Lahey Funeral & Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of arrangements.

Joseph P. McCloy was born Oct. 7, 1932, in Delmar to Orie and Anna Banowetz McCloy. He graduated from Delmar High School.

He married Madonna Steines Sept. 13, 1958, at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Springbrook.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was a supervisor in his earlier years at Clinton Engines. Joe owned and operated McCloy Electric in Delmar for over 40 years, retiring in 1999 and J&M Travel, which he and his wife operated for 20 years during retirement.

He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the caretaker at St. Patrick Cemetery for many years. He was a member of the Delmar Fire Department, Timber City American Legion Post 75, a past member of the Delmar Lions Club and an avid Cubs fan.

Joseph is survived by his wife; children, Shirley McCloy of Cedar Rapids, Marlene McCloy of Delmar, JoLynn (Randy) Grashorn of Omaha, Neb., John (Susan) of DeWitt, Patrick (Kathy) of Maquoketa and Francis (Jennifer) of Lisbon; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth Gerlach of Delmar and Mary Frondel of Sabula; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, four brothers-in-laws and a sister-in-law.

A memorial fund has been established.
