Madeline (Mrs. Kenneth) Mickey
Madeline (Mrs. Kenneth) Mickey, 88, of Welton died Wednesday evening, June 12, 2013, at Westwing Place, DeWitt.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, 2-6 p.m., Sunday, June 16.
A service of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 17, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Vicar Michelle Kanzaki will officiate.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, DeWitt. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jeff Haack, Mark Haack, Greg Haack, Chris Mickey, Andrew Grandinetti, Jon Marten-sen and Kaeden Mickey, and a nephew, Don Loeffelholz.
Mrs. Mickey, the former Madeline Mil-dred Ohlerich, was born July 27, 1924, in Welton to Henry and Amanda Wulf Ohlerich. She graduated from Welton High School in 1942.
Madeline was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Mickey Nov. 16, 1946, in Clinton. The couple resided in Welton most of their married life, where they raised their seven children.
In addition to being a homemaker, Madeline was employed by Clinton En-gines, Maquoketa, and Ennis Business Forms, DeWitt.
She was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Bliedorn. Made-line did a lot of craft projects as well as quilting and knitting. She loved to sew, cook, bake and spend time with her fami-ly.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 67 years, Ken; children, Sherry (Don) Haack of Calamus, Ken Jr. (Sharon) Mickey of DeWitt, Rita Cochran of Davenport, Jean (J.C.) Martensen of Welton and Jim Mick-ey of Welton; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Preceding Madeline in death were daughters, Brenda Sue Mickey and Debo-rah Kay Berner; her parents; sisters, Melva Langrehr, Lois Langrehr and Anna Mae Bickford; and a brother, Albert Ohlerich.
Memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church.
