Julie Ann Dieckmann Hutchins
Julie Ann Dieckmann Hutchins, 47, formerly of Calamus, died Sunday, June 16, 2013, at Hy-Lond Health Care Center in Merced, Calif., after a brief illness.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 22, at Wesley United Methodist Church, Calamus. Pastor Toni Brewster will officiate.

Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Calamus.

A celebration of her life will be held at Club Mercedes in Merced, Calif., at a later date.

Visitation was 4-7 p.m., Friday, June 21, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.

Julie was born July 26, 1965, in DeWitt to Darold "George" and Shirley Dieckmann. She grew up in Calamus and graduated from Calamus High School in 1983. She later graduated from Kirkwood Community College with a degree in environmental science.

Her first job was as a park ranger at Wild Cat Den State Park. She later worked as a shipping supervisor for Car-Freshner in DeWitt.

Julie was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She had an extensive snowman collection, which always reminded her of her Iowa home.

Julie married Frank Hutchins May 14, 2005.

She enjoyed golfing, playing cards, being with her friends and volunteering for special events, especially the Elks "Friends Helping Friends."

Julie is survived by her husband; a brother, Joel (Brenda) Dieckmann of DeWitt; a sister-in-law, Nida Dieckmann of Davenport; an aunt, uncles and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.

Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous of Iowa, where Julie once served as a camp counselor.
