Benedict "Ben" M. Reuter, 94, died at Harbor Crest Nursing Home, in Fulton, Ill., Monday, June 24, 2013.
A funeral Mass will take place Friday, June 28, at 10:30 a.m. at Jesus Christ Prince of Peace Church, Clinton.
Visitation is Thursday, June 27, 4-8 p.m. at Lemke Funeral Homes, South Chapel, Clinton, and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Sugar Creek Cemetery.
Lemke Funeral Homes is in charge of the arrangements.
Ben was born Oct. 29, 1918, in Sugar Creek to Peter and Katharina Banowetz Reuter.
He married Rita Roling Oct. 1, 1940, in Sugar Creek.
Ben worked as a mechanic for Kunau Implement in Preston and Dague Implement in Maquoketa for many years. He also farmed in the Preston area.
He enjoyed utilizing his mechanical skills, playing his accordion, playing cards and traveling.
Ben is survived by his children, Donald (Darlene) Reuter of Maquoketa, Eleanor (Leo) Casey of Fulton, Ill., Geraldine Burken of Preston, Darlene (Dale) Ketelsen of Clinton, Lois (Tom) Cloos of Bellevue, Judy (Tim) Martin of Cedar Rapids, Terry (Bonnie) Reuter of Spragueville and Ed (Carol) Reuter of Sabula; 31 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Elizabeth Frett of Maquoketa, Vernard Reuter of Clinton, Mary Kilburg of Maquoketa, Julius Reuter of Texas, Catherine Kilburg of Preston, Joan Gerardy of Bellevue, Richard Reuter of Calamus and Theresa Hansen of DeWitt; and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters and two brothers.
