Stephen Holmes Tuttle
Stephen Holmes Tuttle

Feb. 10, 1947- April 23, 2013

Steve Tuttle died at home April 23, 2013.

Born to Arthur and Margaret Tuttle Feb. 10, 1947, in Los Angeles, Steve grew up and was educated in California where he started a career in broadcasting that included jobs as a radio news reporter and later as a television news producer or news manager at television stations in San Francisco, Salt Lake City, Utah; Portland, Ore.; Wichita, Kan.; Davenport (KWQC-TV); and Des Moines (WHO-TV and WOI-TV).

After retiring from broadcasting he worked at the Youth Emergency Shelter and Services in Des Moines and as a fundraiser for the Iowa Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.

He married Jean McGuire in Davenport, March 17, 1990.

He is survived by his wife; daughter, Jen Christensen, and son-in-law Brian Christensen of San Mateo, Calif.; son Adam Tuttle of Santa Barbara, Calif.; son Ben Tuttle of San Francisco; grandchildren, Jack and Owen Christensen of San Mateo; his brother, Rich, and sister-in-law, Susan, of San Rafael, Calif.; and nephew, Alex Tuttle of Jerusalem, Israel. He also leaves behind the McGuire extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Steve was a loving husband, son, brother, father, grandfather, son-in-law, brother-in-law and uncle. His humor and emails will be missed terribly.

He found joy in renovating his small farm in central Iowa. Although a fourth generation Californian, he had a love for the state of Iowa until his death.

A remembrance service will be held in Steve's honor Friday, July 5, at the Maxwell Area Community Center, 84 Main St., Maxwell. Reception and dinner start at 5 p.m., and the service starts at 6:30 p.m.
