The family greeted friends Tuesday, 3-7 p.m. at the church where a prayer service was held at 3 p.m. Additional visitation is 9:30-10 a.m., Wednesday, prior to Mass at church.

Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with ar-rangements.

Charlie passed away Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center, West Campus, Davenport. He recently was di-agnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.

Charles Ambrose Sheridan was born in Davenport Dec. 7, 1941, a son of Charles L. and Anastasia Murphy Sheridan. He attended grade and high school at St. Jo-seph School in DeWitt. He attended St. Ambrose Seminary for two years, attended Loras College and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a bachelor of science in history and geography.

Charlie was a teacher at Maquoketa Junior High School for many years. In 1988, he was elected Clinton County audi-tor; he retired in 2008. He was on the board of Generations/Milestones and a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, DeWitt.

He was a loyal member of the Clinton County Democratic Party. He really en-joyed "the campaign trail," recently work-ing on Rita Hart's election to the Iowa Senate. Charlie enjoyed his years of driv-ing the equipment van for his RAGBRAI friends.

Charlie was a devoted son, the best brother and uncle. We were very fortunate to have him in our lives.

Charlie is survived by his sister, Mary Ellen (Gary) Blunck of Davenport; a brother, Vincent (Molly) Sheridan of DeWitt; nephews, Timothy (Andrea) Sher-idan, Andrew (Brandi) Blunck, Theodore Sheridan; nieces Jenifer (Mark) Favetti, Bridget Sheridan, Amanda (Shay) Flana-gan and Katherine Sheridan; and great-nephews and great-nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; and a nephew, Larry Blunck.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Chetneni, Linda Haessler, PA and all of the staff at Genesis West for their loving care during Charlie's last 16 days.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made either to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Genesis Hos-pice.
