Alice Maurine Davis (Bronkema)
Alice Maurine Davis, 98, of Waterloo, formerly of Delta, died July 22, 2013, at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Private graveside services will be held at a later date.

Also known as Alice Bronkema, she was born May 1, 1915, in Tioga, to Ottie and Ada Faye Warrick Armstrong. She married Guy C. Davis May 1, 1937, in Kingston, Mo. He died April 7, 1964. She married Peter J. Bronkema Jan. 18, 1969, in Clinton, and they later divorced.

She earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary teaching and library science and was a teacher and librarian in public schools, including Central Junior High School, DeWitt, during the 1970s. She retired in 1985.

She loved birds and was an expert at recognizing their calls.  She enjoyed traveling.

Surviving are a daughter, Allaire (Warren) George of Waterloo, and nine grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a stepson, four brothers and a sister.
