Lois M. Dooley, 81, of DeWitt died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 19, 2013, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
The family received relatives and friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, Sunday, Sept. 22
At Lois' request, there will be no service.
Interment will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Lois Marie Hartz was born Sept. 14, 1932, in LeClaire to LeRoy and Lorene Bahns Hartz. Lois was a graduate of LeClaire High School.
In August of 1956, Lois was united in marriage to Clyde L. Spurrier. She later married Russ Dooley. The couple resided in Arizona for many years. Russ preceded Lois in death. Lois moved to DeWitt in 2008.
She was a farm girl at heart, being raised on a farm She was a no-frills, hard-working, kind-hearted soul who would often be found helping others. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, casinos, wind chimes and noise-makers. Lois loved decorating her home for every holiday, and the candy dish was always full.
She was a member of the DeWitt Noon Lions Club and cherished the times spent the last several years with her DeWitt friends.
Surviving are her children and their spouses, Mike and Karen Spurrier of LeClaire and Deb and Randy Munro of DeWitt; brothers, Donald Hartz of Bettendorf and Richard (Loretta) Hartz of LeClaire; grandchildren, Kelly, Lisa, Stephanie, Brent and Blake; five great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Terry (Kate), Duane (Sandra), Lynne (Dave), Kevin (Danna), Kenneth (Andrea), Keith (Lisa), Kristine (Tim), Kurtis (Raquel) and Kraig (Amy); numerous great-nieces and nephews. Also surviving are special friends, Ron Hilsenbeck and the Grummer family.
In addition to her husband, Lois was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Hartz, and a special friend, Jim Grummer.
Memorials may be made to Clarissa Cook Hospice or DeWitt Noon Lions.
