|Ruby Arlene Hass Speers
Ruby Arlene Hass Speers, 75, of DeWitt died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at Mercy Living Center South, Clinton.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 13, at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt. Pastor Ray Kelch will officiate.
Visitation is 9-10:45 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Elvira Cemetery, Elvira.
Ruby was born May 9, 1938, to Harold and Edna Rogers Buxton, in Mount Carroll, Ill. She was a 1957 graduate of Clinton High School.
She married Harlan Hass in December 1958 in Clinton. Harlan preceded her in death April 26, 1992. Ruby married Dennis Speers Aug. 13, 1996.
She was a homemaker and also worked seasonally sorting seed corn for Pride Seed Co. in DeWitt.
Ruby attended the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Clinton. She enjoyed camping and fishing, cooking and pizza, playing cards, spending time with her and Dennis' families, going for drives with Dennis and her dog, "Chi-Chi."
She is survived by her husband, Dennis; children, Edwin (Karla) Hass of Seattle, Wash., Laura (Matt) Rose of Clinton, and Brenda Reistroffer of DeWitt; step-children, Denise Smice of Mt. Morris, Ill., Mike Speers of Little Rock, Ark., and Kenny (Melissa) Speers of Oregon, Ill.; three grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband Harlan, she was preceded in death by her son, Darwin Hass.
