Edwin Hardersen
Graveside services for Edwin Hardersen, 88, were 11:15 a.m. Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Pine Hill Cemetery, Davenport, with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 26. The Cunnick-Collins Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.

Edwin passed away Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.

He was born Jan. 29, 1926, the son of Chris and Clara Nielsen Hardersen. He graduated from DeWitt High School. He married Barbara Asher in Las Vegas, Nev., in 1947. She preceded him in death in 1973. He married Irene Schwarz Rands in Las Vegas in 1975. She preceded him in death in 2002.

Edwin was employed in the transportation industry most his life. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a tail gunner on a B-17.

After his retirement in 1988, he enjoyed golfing and taking daily walks. He also enjoyed woodworking, donating most of his wooden toys to many Ronald McDonald houses.

Survivors include his daughter, Sheila Haskins of Griffith, Ind., two sons, Steven Hardersen of Norman, Okla., and Paul Hardersen of Grand Forks, N.D.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters, Kathy (Gene) Paasch and Candy (Mike) Bates of Davenport; a sister, Lucille O'Connell of DeWitt, and his special friend, Rosie DeBaets.

Memorials may be made to the Black Hills Wild Horse Sanctuary, P.O. Box 998, Hot Springs, S.D. 57747.
