David Ray Posten
David Ray Posten, 66, of Beechgrove, Tenn., died unexpectedly May 30, 2014, at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, Murfreesboro, Tenn.

Dave was born May 9, 1948, in Cordova, Ala., and attended Davenport Central High School.

He was a longtime resident of Davenport and Grand Mound. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy for four years aboard the USS Ranger during the Vietnam War. Dave also served as scoutmaster of Troop 38 many years in Grand Mound.  He loved to fish, camp and repair anything with an engine.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy "Murray" Posten of Beechgrove; three children, David II (Michelle), Terry (Melanie) and Beverly (John) Wilford, all of Davenport; a sister, Brenda Craig of Blue Grass; and a sister-in-law, Sally Posten of Davenport.  He is also fondly remembered by the mother of his children, Casey Posten of Grand Mound, and eight grandchildren.

Dave was preceded in death by two brothers, Ellis Jr. and Jim, and his parents, Ellis and Ruby Posten.

The family will host a private ceremony later this month in the Quad Cities. Arrangements are being handled by Coffee County Funeral Chapel, Manchester, Tenn.
