Spartans use big second half to down Central boys

A key WaMaC East game still hung in the balance after one half of the Central boys soccer team's road battle with Solon, Thursday night.

The second half, though, proved to be all Spartans.

The hosts broke the scoreless tie in the second half and then tacked on two more goals the rest of the way to bring home a 3-0 victory.

Central had its share of opportunities throughout the first half and again right after Solon got on the board, but the Sabers were held off the scoreboard.

Looking for offense late in the contest, Central head coach Eduardo Garza tweaked his formation to get more Sabers in on the attack.

The maneuver, though, thinned the Sabers' defense and Solon took advantage with some insurance goals.

Keegan Lass and John Stammeyer both had three shots in the game to lead the Central attack, while Pablo Curiel-Garcia had two of his own.

Both of Curiel-Garcia's shots were on goal and Lass also had two shots on goal.

Goalkeeper Alby Saliu had 10 saves during the game.
