Central DeWitt ready for homecoming-Court

Central DeWitt Community Schools are set to celebrate Homecoming 2019 next week — Sept. 9-14 — and have a number of festivities planned in honor of the occasion.

Dress-up days will include “Meme Day” on Monday — it will be “Pajama Day” at Ekstrand and the intermediate school. At 9 a.m., there will be a homecoming court assembly in the Central DeWitt Performing Arts Center (CDPAC). At 6 p.m., it will be “Sidewalk Chalk Night,” followed by the “Cutest Little Saber Contest” at 7 p.m. At 7:30 p.m., the volleyball team will play against Easton Valley in the main gym.

Tuesday will be “Throwback Day,” and float decorating will be held 4-7 p.m.

Wednesday is “Rivalry Day” (Iowa/Iowa State), and a man-ball tournament will be held at 7 p.m. in the main gym.

Thursday is “Farmer Day.” The parade will be at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by the Powder Puff game at the high school football field and the Hall of Fame ceremony in the CDPAC.

Friday will be “Saber Pride Day,” which will kick off with a pep assembly at 8:30 a.m. at Ekstrand. Other assemblies will be held at the intermediate building at 9:30 a.m., the middle school at 1 p.m. and the high school at 2 p.m.

At 5 p.m. Friday, there will be a tailgate dinner at Lincoln Park, courtesy of the Central DeWitt Educational Foundation and DeWitt Nite Lions.

The coronation of homecoming royalty will be held at 6:45 p.m. at the high school football field, and the Central DeWitt Sabers football team will take on Dubuque Wahlert at 7:15 p.m.

Saturday, the 11th edition of the Saber Dash will begin at 8 a.m., and the homecoming dance will take place 8-11 p.m. for students in grades 9-12 in the high school auxiliary gym.
