A vacant city council seat in Delmar will be filled in a special election August 7. 

Polls will be open at Grossman Hall in Delmar from noon-8 p.m. that day. 

Clinton County Auditor Erick Van Lancker said citizens in Delmar who would like to place their name on the ballot must have a petition and affidavit of candidacy filed at the Clinton County Administration Building before July 13 no later than 5 p.m. Nominees must acquire 10 signatures from eligible voters within the city limits. 

Absentee voting for the election will begin July 17 in the Clinton County Auditor's office at the Clinton County Administration Building, 1900 N. 3rd St., Clinton.

That is the same day absentee ballots may be sent by mail from the Auditor’s Office. The last day to vote in the office will be Aug. 6. Requests for absentee ballots to be sent by mail can be filed at the Auditor’s Office now through July 27. All ballots that are mailed back to the Auditor’s Office must be postmarked by Aug. 6 to be counted.
