Members of the DeWitt Volunteer Fire Department received 20 calls for service between Aug. 3 and Sept. 11:

August 3, to 330th Avenue near Lake Malone for a vehicle in the ditch. One truck and five volunteers arrived at the scene, with 10 standing by at the station.

August 4, to mile marker 144 near TYCOGA. The 12 volunteers who responded to the call were called off before leaving the station.

August 5, to the 2100 block of 330th Avenue for a small grass fire. Four trucks and 11 volunteers arrived at the scene, with five standing by at the station.

August 7, to the 2500 block of 12th Street for a sprinkler system running. Five trucks and 17 volunteers arrived at the scene, with one standing by at the station.  

August 9, to the 2200 block of 308th Avenue for a controlled burn not called into the law center. Four trucks and nine volunteers arrived at the scene, with five standing by at the station.

August 10, to 12th Avenue and Eighth Street for a power line down. Four trucks and 16 volunteers arrived at the scene.

To the 1100 block of 15th Street for light smoke in a basement. Three trucks and 15 volunteers arrived at the scene, with five standing by at the station.

To U.S. 30 westbound for a semi rollover. Four trucks and 13 volunteers arrived at the scene.

To the 1100 block of Third Street for a report of a fire in a backyard. There was no fire upon arrival. Two trucks and four volunteers arrived at the scene.

To the 400 block of 10th Avenue for sparking from an electric panel due to a fallen tree that ripped off service to the house. Five trucks and 19 volunteers arrived at the scene. 

To the 100 block of Country Court for smoke and flames confined to the basement. Seven trucks and 22 volunteers arrived at the scene.

To the 200 block of Fifth Avenue for gas odor. There was no leak. One truck and six volunteers arrived at the scene.

To the 600 block of DeWitt Street in Grand Mound, but the station was called off. Twenty-four volunteers responded to the call.

To the 900 block of 10th Street for an alarm activation. Two trucks and 12 volunteers arrived at the scene, with seven standing by at the station. 

August 11, to the 100 block of Eighth Street for a power line down. Two trucks and 11 volunteers arrive at the scene.

To the 900 block of Second Avenue for a tree limb on a power line. Four trucks and 16 volunteers arrived at the scene, with one standing by at the station.

To the 400 block of Eighth Street for an electrical hazard caused by a broken power line. Two trucks and 11 volunteers arrived at the scene, with eight standing by at the station.

To the 400 block of Fifth Street for a broken ground wire on power lines to a house. Three trucks and 13 volunteers arrived at the scene, with 10 standing by at the station.

To the 500 block of East 11th Street for an alarm activation. Four trucks and 16 volunteers arrived at the scene, with two standing by at the station.
