Allen E. Schroeder, 83, of Andover, passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019, at Mercy One Hospital in Clinton, surrounded by his loving family. Private services will be held at MKCC Camp in Bryant. Burial will be in Andover Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Gary Schroeder, Donald Schroeder, Jason Johnson, and Jessup, Joel, Brandon and Tyson Schroeder. Honorary pallbearers will be Baker Green, Jason Ritchie, Justin Goodrich and Trevor Kleppe.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made in Allen’s name to the Andover Ambulance. The Pape Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Allen was born in Clinton on July 5, 1936, the son of Edwin and Alta Petersen Schroeder. He attended county schools and graduated from Miles High School. Allen married Nancy Taplin on Sept. 26, 1954, in Clinton.
He was employed with the Clinton County Maintenance Department for 38 years. In 1998, he retired to his beloved farm in Andover, where he grew up. He served on the Andover City Council for several years.
Allen enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids, being on the farm, hunting, fishing and antiquing.
Allen is survived by his wife, Nancy; four children, Gary (Denise) Schroeder, of Bryant; Debra (Baker) Green, of Kansas City, Missouri; Sherril Johnson, of Andover; and Donald Schroeder, of Sabula; 10 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. He will be missed by his constant companion, his dog, Missy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Dwight Johnson; a granddaughter, Jenilee Johnson Miller; two great-grandchildren, Coen Ritchie and William Schroeder; and a brother, Larry.
