Marcia Louise Draley, 67, of El Cajon, California, passed away peacefully the morning of Dec. 26, 2020 at Avocado Post Acute Care Center in El Cajon.
Marcia was born Oct. 25, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Mary Wilma (Franks) Draley and Joseph Edward Draley. She was welcomed by an older brother, Daniel.
Marcia graduated from Hinsdale High school, Hinsdale, Illinois. Following her graduation, she completed one year of college in Florida. Marcia was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1979 in Chicago. Life then took Marcia to Southern California. During these years Marcia embarked on various pursuits and made many friends. Marcia had a natural aptitude for organization and public speaking and was an outstanding communicator. She put these skills to use during the three years she spent as the coordinator of Mesa Valley Grove Home Delivered Meals, a meal delivery service to home bound senior citizens.
Marcia experienced health setbacks throughout her life, and at times they would get her down, but she worked hard to push through and find a positive way forward. She often expressed to others that she found comfort through prayer and her hope for the future. As Marcia became housebound, she took the initiative to combat isolation by inviting her friends to come to her home every Wednesday afternoon for association and a ministry work. This standing arrangement went on for many years and brought joy to all.
Those left to remember Marcia are her sister-in-law, Janet Draley (David) Tubbs, Eldridge, her nieces Dena (Kendall) Brown, Bettendorf, Heidi Draley, DeWitt, and Sarah Draley (Barry) Davis, Lusaka, Zambia, and her great nephew and niece Colin and Elly Brown. Marcia also leaves behind many cherished friends in El Cajon and the surrounding area who were dear to her.
Marcia is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Daniel Edward Draley.
