Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Columbus, with Rev. Wayne Nestor officiating. Visitation is Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at McKown Funeral Home and continues on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment is in Roselawn Cemetery.
Robert “Bob” Ohnemus was born April 20, 1947, in Moline, Illinois, to Robert and Katheryn Lawson Ohnemus. He grew up in DeWitt, where he received his education. Following high school, Bob joined the U.S. Navy, where he served until receiving his medical discharge. Bob went to work for US Gypsum in Mediapolis. He moved to Oklahoma City, where he married Connie Krueger on Jan. 23, 1970. They moved to Columbus, where Bob worked for Moorman Feed for 27 years. He then worked 10 years for Douglas-Lomason, before retiring due to his health.
Bob was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he served on the board of directors of KTLX and worked as a radio operator. He was also a member of the Friday Morning Breakfast Group. He was a volunteer at Columbus Community Hospital for 10 years and a member of the Shelby Booster Club. Nobody was a stranger to Bob; he loved to visit.
He was a Husker fan and a Shelby Husky fan. Bob loved playing cards, computer games, and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Connie Ohnemus, of Columbus; sons, Troy Ohnemus, of Omaha, and Todd Ohnemus, of Shelby; daughters, Amy Straw, of Columbus, and Stacey Schrader, of Wapello; 12 grandchildren; sisters, Karen (Jerry) Wiese, of Sioux City, and Marcia (Denny) Runge, of Franklin, Indiana; and a brother, Mark (Brenda) Ohnemus, of DeWitt.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Kathryn Ohnemus; a grandson, Cole Ohnemus; and a daughter-in-law, Kim Ohnemus.
