Trevor Joseph Swahn

Trevor Joseph Swahn, 30, of Rocklin, California, was tragically killed on the evening of Feb. 4, 2021 by a hit-and-run driver while walking along Sierra College Blvd in Rocklin.

He was born on Oct. 14, 1990 in Fargo, North Dakota to Roger and Pam (Hansen) Swahn. As a small child Trevor would affectionately call his big brother “Na-na”. He loved the family dog, a German Shepherd named Hawk, who was his buddy. In 1996 he moved with his family to Granite Bay, California where he attended kindergarten through 12th grade. In his youth he played soccer, snowboarded in the Sierra Nevada mountains where he progressed to Black Diamond runs, climbed Half Dome in Yosemite at the age of 11 with a family friend, played the piano and electric guitar, was a member of the Granite Bay JV and HS swim team, and was a goalie for the Granite Bay JV and HS water polo team. He graduated from Granite Bay High School in 2009. Trevor had lots of fun with his family and friends growing up. He was able to travel, including a trip to Japan that family friends took him on. He traveled with his family to Germany, Denmark, England, China, Alaska, Hawaii, and many other states in the US. He especially loved traveling to Germany to visit his great-grandmother and other relatives.

Trevor loved to garden and watch things grow. He liked to say that he was from a long line of farmers. Every Spring, Trevor and his mom would plant a vegetable garden. He had a great sense of humor and his favorite comedian was George Carlin. He liked to read, talk about the universe with his dad and brother, and he especially enjoyed listening to music. His favorite person was his niece Riley, whom he adored.

In August 2020, Trevor moved into a house in Rocklin that was occupied by a few other young adults. He was learning life skills, and was looking forward to living on his own. Trevor received support and counseling from AMI Housing, Inc. and Turning Point Community Programs. Before that he received exceptional services at Placer County Adult System of Care in Roseville. He helped plant and tend to a garden at that facility. Thank you to all the people who have helped Trevor and treated him with kindness over the years.

Trevor is survived by his parents of Granite Bay; his brother Tyler (Roxanne) Swahn and his beloved niece Riley Claire Swahn of Roseville, California; his grandmother, Jutta Hansen of Bettendorf; his uncle, Chris (Beth) Hansen of Grand Mound; his aunt, Anne (Dave) Fergus of Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin; his aunt, Melanie Hansen of North Liberty; his aunt, Ruth Richards of Lower Lake, California; his aunt, Barbara (David) Suber of Sparks, Nevada; his step-uncle, Larry Huck of Reno, Nevada; his step-uncle, Jack Huck of San Francisco; and numerous cousins, great-aunts, great-uncles, a great-great aunt and extended family throughout the United States and Germany.
