Editor’s note: Occasionally appearing in The Observer will be columns and stories by Central DeWitt Students in language arts teacher Jon Fisher’s publications class. This is the class’ first submission.
Joining the Central DeWitt High School Language Arts department this year is Victoria Schrage, who was kind enough to answer a few questions to get to know her.
What made you want to come to Central Dewitt? I’ve been in Iowa for about a year now, looking for a school I could call home and when the job opened in DeWitt I was super excited about it!
Where did you move to Dewitt from? I actually live in Bettendorf but I moved here from Saint Louis, Missouri.
What are you most excited for in the 2020-2021 school year? Getting to know all of my students is what I’m most excited about and being back in the classroom is also exciting. I’m kind of a school nerd. And I really think that the cheer and dance teams are going to be awesome this year.
What are your goals with this year’s cheer team? My biggest goal is to get student involvement with the cheers and promoting positivity throughout the school.
Have you ever coached cheer before? I have but in Missouri.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would you live? Why? Bali, because I love the beach and it’s one of the most beautiful places in the world!
Describe the perfect Sunday: Laying in bed with my two dogs, watching TV (probably something that’s recorded because I hate commercials!)
If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be? Pizza
Does pineapple belong on pizza? Definitely not.
If you had the chance to spend one day with anyone in the world dead or alive who would you pick? Elvis Presley because we have the same birthday.
