ALBURNETT — An aggressive Alburnett attack proved to be too much for the Calamus-Wheatland volleyball team during Thursday’s Tri-Rivers Conference match between the two teams.
The Pirates piled up more attack attempts and kills, and kept the Warriors off-balance with their serving in a 25-14, 25-12, 25-12 victory.
Cal-Wheat spread out its attack with six different players coming up with kills, but could not find its footing against an Alburnett squad that put down 35 kills and served up 12 aces.
Senior Sammie Flagel led the way with five kills and helped out her teammates, too, with a team-high six assists.
Fellow senior Kaylie Wilhelm added four kills, while Taylor Jacobsen and Lauren Von Muenster both had two (Alison Boeckmann and Addy Widel had individual kills).
Jacobsen complemented her two kills with five assists, while Widel and Ellie Carpenter both had three digs.
The Warriors had three blocks, including a solo block by Wilhelm, who also joined Widel by serving up an ace.
