Paulsen signs with Northern State

Thousands of high school football players across the country made their college choices official Wednesday during National Signing Day. One of them was Central DeWitt senior Logan Paulsen. Flanked by his parents, Jeff and Carrie, Paulsen signed with Northern State University, an NCAA Division II program in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Paulsen earned all-district honors in both of his varsity seasons with the Sabers. The wide receiver led the Sabers in receiving yards in each of the past two seasons and improved his numbers across the board as a senior, hauling in 30 receptions for 423 yards and three touchdowns. He joins a Wolves program that went 6-5 last year and hired new head coach Mike Schmidt in December. Schmidt spent his previous four seasons at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and the Eagles put the ball in the air during his time there — they ranked 18th in all of Division III with 305.9 passing yards per game last fall. “Logan is a big time get for our football program,” Schmidt said in a press release. “He is so long and athletic. He is a huge guy and is a big-time playmaker... (he) will be a huge addition to our offense.”
