MANCHESTER — The Central DeWitt volleyball team stayed on the attack, but finding open spots on the floor was a difficult proposition Tuesday.

The Sabers piled up 80 attack attempts in their WaMaC East clash with West Delaware, but were limited to just 13 kills.

The fifth-ranked Hawks’ defense was the culprit, as it came up with 61 digs in a 25-7, 25-15, 25-16 victory.

Sophomore Taylor Veach led the Sabers with five kills and assisted on four more for good measure. Junior Talbot Kinney had four kills, while four Sabers had one.

Central made its impact on defense at the net, coming up with eight blocks.

Senior Lauren Cooper led the way with three, while Carleigh Jefford and Ava Morris both added two.

Junior Morgan Machovec had a team-high eight digs, while senior Kaity Frick chipped in seven and Kinney six.

Senior Alyssa Eden had three digs to go with a team-high eight assists.
